Types of hormones

There are many types of hormones in the body. According to their chemical properties, hormones are divided into four categories, as follows:
First, peptide hormones, which are mainly composed of proteins, are more common, such as insulin and parathyroid hormone.
Secondly, amino acid hormones mainly refer to thyroid hormones secreted by the thyroid gland, including total T3, total T4, free T3, and free T4.
Third, amine hormones, mainly including adrenaline, noradrenaline, and dopamine.
Fourth, steroid hormones, the most common of which are glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, gonadal hormones, testosterone, vitamin D, all of which belong to steroid hormones.
There are many types of hormones in the body, and the amount of hormones is relatively small, but the role they play is enormous. When a certain hormone is too much or too little in the body, it is a pathological state. For example, excessive thyroid hormone produces hypermetabolism syndrome, and low thyroid hormone produces hypometabolism syndrome. Both require formal treatment.
