MOTS-c is a peptide hormone encoded in the mitochondrial genome. It regulates metabolic homeostasis and enhances physical performance. It is a mitochondria-derived peptide (MDP) that promotes biosynthesis of the endogenous AMP analog AICAR and consequently AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Induces cellular and systemic glucose uptake and improves insulin sensitivity. Shown to prevent diet-induced obesity (DIO) in mice. Potential anti-obesity and anti-aging compound.
Mechanism of action MOTS-c peptide targets skeletal muscle and can enhance glucose metabolism. Therefore, M plays an important role in the regulation of cardiovascular, diabetes, exercise and longevity. It is a new mitochondrial signaling mechanism and plays a role in regulating intracellular and intercellular metabolism. This substance could triggers the activation of AMPK and accumulation of 5-aminomidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide (AICAR), a known AMPK activator, by inhibiting the folate cycle and de novo purine biosynthesis.
MOTS-c benefits
Research done on this peptide has shown beneficial effects in reducing diabetes and obesity while also enhancing performance and longevity. Why does this happen? It assists proper mitochondrial function, and the mitochondria are the energy center of every cell in the human body. Research has shown that It is an exercise-mimetic peptide, meaning it makes the body think it is exercising even when it is not.
These are the benefits of It:
Regulates mitochondrial energy
Promotes the metabolism of fatty acid in the liver
Promotes metabolic homeostasis
Improves glucose regulation
Aids in the resistance of metabolic stress
Protects against insulin resistance
Promotes weight loss
Improves physical performance
Mots-c Side Effects
It is one of those peptides that rarely cause any major side effects.
The peptide is believed to be very safe for human consumption; however, limited research trials have been performed so far involving human subjects.
Therefore, you may need to be pretty careful before deciding to use It.
Nevertheless, It can cause redness and rashes at the administration site, so a little icing after a Mots-c injection can be helpful.
MOTS-c usage and dosage
It is now becoming a standard regimen to stack Mots-c with IGF1-LR3 and PEG MGF and use it as a monotherapy.
IGF1-LR3 increases fatty acid oxidation and enhances muscle repair by inhibiting myostatin. Additionally, you can supplement with PEG-MGF due to similar effects.
For this monotherapy to be effective, it is fundamental to increase 25-75 mcg per day for six weeks; for M-c, use 10 mg thrice a week for six weeks.
If you want to include PEG MGF in the stack, 200-300 mcg 2-3 times per week should be enough!
