A woman’s real-life experience using tirzepatide for four months

I’ve always been a chubby girl since childhood. To lose weight, I’ve tried every method under the sun. Every year, I’m on this weight-loss journey, and my blood sugar has become increasingly unstable. After getting checked at the hospital, the doctor suggested I try tirzepatide. Today is my first day injecting tirzepatide, at a dose of 5mg. I felt a bit nauseous and threw up once this morning, but felt much better afterward. My legs went a little numb and felt chilly, making me worry I was hypoglycemic again. But after about an hour, those sensations faded. I only ate two slices of apple for breakfast and lost my appetite. For lunch, I had a small bowl of tomato and egg noodles. I must say, it does a pretty good job suppressing appetite. I have no desire to eat, especially greasy foods—just thinking about them makes me feel a bit queasy. Overall, it feels pretty good. This morning, my weight was 75.2kg. I’ll keep track of my experiences with tirzepatide, but these are solely my personal observations and don’t apply to others.

Use tirzepatide for two weeks

I get my shots every Thursday night and have now had my third dose. I’m feeling great—except for intense discomfort (vomiting) on the first day after the initial shot, I’ve had no issues since. It really suppresses my appetite, which is an unfamiliar sensation I’m thrilled about. I no longer have to battle my hunger, freeing up mental energy for other things. I love this feeling.

The doctor emphasized that the injections aren’t a permanent solution—diet and exercise still matter. Otherwise, weight will rebound after stopping. So, while I couldn’t eat anything on the first day, starting the second day I committed to a strict diet (mainly the 16:8 intermittent fasting method) and half an hour of daily exercise (I’m really out of shape, so I’m taking it slow). This is all preparation for when I eventually stop the injections.

Weight update: My starting weight was 75.2kg. After two injections—a span of 14 days—my current weight is 70.7kg, marking a 4.5kg loss.

Day 28 of tirzepatide use

The first treatment cycle has concluded, and I’ve returned to the hospital to pick up medication for the second month. Following the doctor’s recommendation, I’ll be receiving 7.5mg injections this month. Here’s a summary of Telbopride’s results after the first month:
Weight dropped from 75.2kg to 67.6kg, a loss of 7.6kg.
Physical sensations: Aside from feeling slightly unwell on the first day with a few bouts of nausea, I experienced no further side effects. It has been remarkably effective at suppressing appetite. As someone who used to crave food constantly, I now have no cravings at all—a very pleasant change.
Regarding nutrition, I was concerned about potential deficiencies and hair loss. To address this, I’ve adopted a strict meal plan: three meals daily at set times, consisting of one fist-sized portion of grains, one fist-sized portion of meat, and two fist-sized portions of vegetables. This approach will help maintain healthy eating habits even after discontinuing the medication, preventing weight rebound.
For exercise, I’m doing 30 minutes of cardio daily—sometimes running, sometimes spinning. Four workouts a week is my limit.
The doctor recommended three months of treatment followed by one month of maintenance before stopping. I agree with this plan. The key is building healthy habits to sustain a fit body and overcome obesity.

Second month of tirzepatide use

In the second month, I used 7.5mg. Compared to the first month, my body seemed to have adjusted—apart from occasional dizziness, there were no other side effects.
Today’s weight: 62.2kg. This month, I lost about 5kg.
From the initial 75.2kg to today’s 62.2kg, I’ve lost a total of 13kg over 56 days—an average daily loss of 0.46kg.
Regarding diet and exercise, I continued following my doctor’s advice diligently, cultivating healthy habits. My appetite remained low as before, and I felt full easily, so I didn’t eat much. Concerned about nutritional deficiencies, I ensured daily intake of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, etc., eating smaller portions more frequently. For exercise, I did anaerobic workouts at the gym based on my physical condition. Weight loss was relatively slow, and sometimes my weight even increased.
This month, I had my period, which was normal. However, I experienced some bloating during menstruation, and my weight increased slightly.

Third month of tirzepatide use

In the third month, I received a 10mg injection and experienced no adverse reactions. I felt very full and had no hunger pangs. My weight dropped by 5kg during this month, from 62.2kg in the second month to 57.1kg. This rate of weight loss was quite rapid. Currently, both my weight and waist circumference are within normal ranges, which makes me very happy.
After completing the three-month course, I went for a follow-up at the hospital and had blood tests. My triglycerides were back to normal, but my uric acid levels had risen. The doctor advised me to drink more water. My thyroid function was normal, but I showed signs of malnutrition, feeling lethargic and easily fatigued. The doctor recommended continuing the medication for one more month to consolidate the results. For this consolidation phase, the doctor prescribed 5mg. So after finishing this month, I will stop the medication and focus on maintaining my progress.
I’ve lost over 15kg so far, which was too rapid. My body feels a bit worn out, and my skin is a little loose. So I still need to exercise for toning and pay attention to balanced nutrition in my diet. These are the things I need to focus on moving forward.

4th month of tirzepatide use

The first three months were 5mg, 7.5mg, and 10mg respectively. Following the doctor’s advice, I took 5mg in the fourth month for consolidation, concerned about a rebound effect if I stopped abruptly. Now that the fourth month is complete, here’s my update:
Weight-wise, I weighed 57.1kg after the third month and 54.4kg after the fourth month—a further 2.7kg loss. This marks my all-time low weight and achieves my goal, which makes me very happy.
Regarding appetite, it improved noticeably in the fourth month compared to earlier months. I experience hunger in the evenings and occasional cravings, but they’re manageable.
Regarding weight rebound, I’m actually quite concerned. So far, it seems manageable. I finished all injections for the fourth month and have been off the medication for over ten days. Since I’ve been traveling with my child recently, my appetite has increased slightly during this period. However, I feel full very quickly after eating even a little, and overeating causes discomfort. I think my stomach shrunk from eating less these past months, so even small extra portions cause discomfort. I weighed myself today—no strict dieting these days, but no binge eating either—and my weight is 56.2kg, up 1.8kg from my lowest of 54.4kg. I’m quite satisfied with this result.
I don’t feel particularly unwell. Now I pay more attention to my daily diet, avoiding heavy oils and salt, and skipping sugary drinks. It’s just healthy eating—I aim to maintain around 55kg. After traveling, I plan to start targeted body sculpting.
The only downside is that I lost weight too quickly. My skin feels loose, and my body fat percentage is definitely high. My skin is saggy, and I have more wrinkles on my face, especially around my eyes. Ah well, you can’t have it all. So I can accept this outcome.
Moving forward, my focus is on sculpting my body, maintaining my results, and cherishing what I’ve achieved. Everything stems from my own choices. The road ahead is long, and I’ll keep pushing forward!
This is my honest personal feedback, hoping it offers a little insight for others.
